Luonto: A Legacy of Craft, Nature, and Family

Founded in Finland in 1964 by Pentti Viitala, Luonto began in a humble hay-barn, where worn sofas were lovingly re-upholstered and sold door-to-door. Over generations, this family venture blossomed from making sofas in an old schoolhouse to building modern factories, expanding internationally, and launching a North American hub in Charleston. Through it all, Luonto has remained rooted in its mission: offering fine, functional furniture at fair prices. Deeply connected to nature (Luonto means “nature” in Finnish), the brand blends craftsmanship, quality, and sustainability-repurposing resources, sourcing eco-certified materials, and making pieces that honor both people and planet.

Luonto: Sustainable Craft, Timeless Comfort

At Luonto, design is guided by a simple yet powerful philosophy: create furniture that is beautiful, functional, and respectful of nature. Every piece is crafted with care in Finland, where skilled artisans combine time-honored techniques with modern innovation. Sustainability is at the heart of their process using responsibly sourced, eco-certified materials and minimizing waste wherever possible. Luonto believes furniture should not only enhance a home but also reflect values of quality and responsibility. Their designs blend clean Scandinavian lines with practical comfort, ensuring each piece feels timeless, versatile, and made to be enjoyed for generations to come.
