Cushion Types and Care

Nothing compares to sinking into a sofa, loveseat, or chair after a long day. Here at Comfort Design, we understand that furniture needs to be well made, durable, and comfortable. Furthermore, as a leading home furnishings provider, we recognize our responsibility to protect the environment, and are proud to pour and manufacture the soy-based foam used in our furniture. Our dedication is evident in our four cushion options.

All seat cushions start with a core of 2.5 density high-resiliency foam.

Foam cushions:

The foam core is wrapped in a layer of Dacron, a low-melt, bonded polyester fiber wrap. The wrap gives the cushion superior lift and crown. These cushions are the most versatile and available on most styles.

Down/Down-blend cushions:

The foam core is wrapped in a layer of Dacron, a low-melt, bonded polyester wrap. The wrap gives the cushion superior lift and crown. The cushion is then stuffed into a down jacket. The jacket is made of a cotton and linen woven fabric that will prevent quills from poking through the upholstery. The jacket may contain down or down and feathers. The cushion will soften with use and should be fluffed to maintain its shape.

PosturePlush cushions:

The foam core is given a crown padding and wrapped in a layer of Dacron, a low-melt, bonded polyester wrap. It is then stuffed into an accord jacket and closed. This cushion is our firmest option and will retain its shape over time. It is also hypoallergenic. It is the preferred cushion for a clean look and works well with thinner cover fabrics.

Ultralux cushions:

Our newest option, the Ultralux cushion seamlessly combines the latest technologies and upcycled materials to create a luxurious seating surface with less waste. The foam core is wrapped in a jacket filled with a blend of upcycled foam and microfiber, giving it the look and feel of down with the recovery of PosturePlush. It is a hypoallergenic down alternative. The cushion will soften with use and should be fluffed to maintain its shape.
